My journey to btone started long before I knew I was going to own a fitness studio. After losing my mom, Betty Lou, to multiple myeloma in 2002, I threw myself into endurance events with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, completing marathons and triathlons while raising money for a cause that was incredibly personal to me. The problem was, I was constantly injured. Doctors kept telling me I needed to strengthen my core, and after discovering Pilates-inspired resistance training, something finally clicked. I was stronger, I was moving better, and I knew I had found the missing piece. When I decided to move back to Boston from California, I figured it was the perfect time to take a gamble. I got the idea for a studio in April, and by December 2010, the doors to my first location were open. Boutique fitness was still a pretty foreign concept at the time, and I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, but I loved it.

In those early years, I did just about everything myself, instructing, cleaning, fixing machines, running the business and reinvesting pretty much every dime I made back into it. Somewhere along the way, I cracked the code on how to make this little fitness studio work, and btone grew from one location into something much bigger than I ever imagined. What has never changed is what matters most to me: creating a place where people can come exactly as they are. I want the person taking their very first fitness class to feel just as welcome and challenged as the person taking their 500th. That approachable, supportive experience—and the community that grows around it is really the heart of btone. The btone method today remains centered on slow, controlled resistance training that can meet clients of different fitness levels within the same class.

Eventually, I realized that one of my favorite things about building btone was helping other people flex their business muscles, too. People had asked me for years how they could open a btone of their own, and franchising gave me the opportunity to take everything I had learned, the wins, mistakes, sleepless nights and lessons and help others build something meaningful in their own communities. Seeing our owners succeed, watching our instructors grow, and hearing how btone has changed a client’s everyday life never gets old. What started as a gamble in 2010 has become a community I’m incredibly proud of, and somehow I still feel like we’re just getting started.

Jody's TONE Zone

btone Harwich Area

Our Harwich studio is conveniently located at 1421 Harwich Orleans Road, at the East Harwich Plaza, making it an easy stop for clients coming from Harwich, Dennis, Orleans, Chatham, and the surrounding Cape communities. We’re right next to the dry cleaners and near 400 East. Plus, you can drop off your Amazon returns at UPS and then come TONE with us! We love being in a location that’s easy to get to, has plenty of convenient parking, and feels connected to so many of the communities we call home.

About the Back Bay Area

Our Back Bay studio is located at 30 Newbury Street on the 4th floor, above James Joseph Salon, right in the heart of one of Boston’s most iconic neighborhoods. Just a block from the Boston Common and surrounded by the shops, restaurants, offices, colleges, and neighborhoods that make Boston so unique, it’s the perfect place to sneak in 45 minutes of TONEy time between work, class, shopping, or exploring the city. We’ve called Newbury Street home since 2011, and there’s something pretty special about being part of the energy of Back Bay and the city where btone really began to grow.

Boston's btone North End

Our North End studio is located at 133 Salem Street in the heart of Boston’s historic North End, surrounded by some of the city’s best Italian restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and neighborhood favorites. Just steps from Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, it’s an easy stop whether you live nearby, work downtown, or are spending the day exploring Boston. We love being part of a neighborhood with so much personality, history, and energy. Come for 45 minutes of TONEy time and stay for the cannoli's!

btone Southie Neighborhood

Our Southie studio is located at 423 West Broadway on the 3rd floor, right above the neighborhood CVS and in the same building as Ochoa hair salon. Our studio is in the middle of everything that makes South Boston such a fun place to live, work, and TONE. We’re surrounded by some of our favorite local spots, including Caffè Nero, Lincoln, Capo, and Loco, making it easy to fit in 45 minutes with TONEy before coffee, brunch, dinner, or drinks. We love the energy of Southie and being part of a neighborhood where there’s always something happening and someone you know around the corner.

"When I first saw pics of TONEy I was nervous that I was too tall/heavy to feel stable on the machine."

TONEy really is for every body. I even kept at it during my pregnancy, modifications are always available!"
